Shipping zones
What are shipping zones?
Shipping zones are geographic areas defined by carriers to calculate delivery timeframes and shipping costs. These zones are typically based on distance from the shipment’s origin to the destination.
Shipping zones in eCommerce
In eCommerce, shipping zones influence both the delivery cost and speed. Carriers use them to set pricing tiers and service levels. The further the shipping zone, the higher the cost and the longer the delivery time. With everstox, brands benefit from regional warehousing and intelligent order routing – helping reduce shipping distances and costs by automatically fulfilling orders from the nearest zone.
Example of a shipping zone
An eCommerce brand stores products in Germany and Spain. An order to Italy is routed from the Spanish warehouse instead of the German one to avoid cross-zone surcharges and shorten delivery time.
